Special Friends
Harvey the Lifestyle Dog and Jennifer Hyland
Jennifer Hyland runs a small graphic design partnership from home and Harvey-Jay, her Retriever cross dog, is very much part of the organisation. However, in his own right he is leading the way to generating another business that has been inspired through client concepts and creative thinking. Not only has this generated work for her, it has realised promotional products and services in return.
Jennifer, the original Harvey and more lately Harvey-Jay, have been great supporters of National Pet Month for many years – check out their involvement with Purton Vets 2009 competition to see some of what they’ve been up to!
Allen and Endal
In 1991, Allen Parton was a Chief Petty Officer serving in the Royal Navy during the Gulf War. He had a very promising military career ahead of him and a wife and two children at home in Portsmouth. Then a tragic road accident changed his life completely. His famous dog Endal brought his, and his family’s, lives back from the brink. Sadly Endal is no more and he shares his life with EJ.
Trustees
National Pet Month is coordinated by 3 trustees, the National Office of Animal Health, the Pet Care Trust and the Pet Food Manufacturers Association.
National Office of Animal Health
The National Office of Animal Health (NOAH) represents the
UK animal medicines industry: its aim is to promote the benefits
of safe, effective, quality medicines for the health and welfare
of all animals. The association has 31 corporate members and
12 associate members. In 2003 NOAH's members accounted for
well over 90% of the £398 million UK animal health market.

Pet Care Trust
The Pet Care Trust promotes the highest professional standards
within the pet care industry through events, education and
training, and communicates the benefits of pet ownership to
the public. The Trust is a national charity with around 1,400
members, overwhelmingly small and medium-sized enterprises
including pet shops, groomers, manufacturers, wholesalers,
colleges, boarding kennels and catteries.

Pet Food Manufacturers Association
PFMA aims to be the credible voice of a responsible pet food
industry. While striving to achieve a balanced regulatory environment
for the production of nutritious and safe food, PFMA also encourages
responsible pet ownership working in partnership with relevant
pet bodies. It aims to be the main resource for its members,
public and others as well as playing a lead role in forming
opinions in Europe through the European Pet Food Federation
(FEDIAF).

RCVS TrustThe RCVS Trust is a small but ambitious veterinary educational and animal welfare charity. Since 2005 we have invested over £1,500,000 in educational and welfare projects in the UK and overseas. Recent grants include research into respiratory disease in dogs and ocular disease in cats. We also run Europe's largest specialist veterinary library, supplying up the minute information to vets and other animal health professionals all over the world. As a small charity we are increasingly reliant on the generosity of pet owners and the veterinary profession to help us maintain and develop our programmes of activity. We are celebrating our Golden Jubilee this year and hope to raise addition funds to further develop our work. Your support during National Pet Month would be very much appreciated! |

We operate a long term fostering scheme which gives hope to elderly dogs. Our charity will pay the large majority of the dogs veterinary fees which helps these elderly dogs have a better chance of rehoming. Our aim is to let the dogs have the happy life they so deserve. We will continue to be passionate about the dogs in our care and our volunteers work tirelessly to put back the trust that has been taken away. |

It raises funds to support the College’s animal hospitals, The Queen Mother Hospital for Animals, Beaumont Animal Hospital and the Equine Referral Hospital, by purchasing vital equipment, building new hospitals and enhancing existing ones.
