Well, that’s a wrap on National Pet Month 2025, and what an amazing month it’s been!

From April 1 to May 1, we’ve been celebrating the incredible bond between people and their pets while championing what responsible ownership really means.

As you know, National Pet Month is not just for April. We’re here all year round with expert advice from vet and pet professionals, practical support and plenty of #PetPawsitivity stories for you to enjoy.

For this year’s campaign, we focused on the five key welfare needs - companionship, behaviour, diet and health, and environment - sharing everything from expert interviews to fun fitness tips for your pets.

We’ve covered:

* The joys of adopting rescue pets, with insight from Dr Sam Gaines from the RSPCA

* Pet bereavement and where to get support

* Pets As Therapy - the UK charity who bring joy to thousands with their animal volunteers, and who are on the lookout for more helpers, so get in touch!

* Tips on early training for puppies and kittens and for spotting when a cat might need extra support

* Help for settling older pets into a new home

* Guidance on small animal nutrition from Claire Hamblion at Supreme Petfoods

* The importance of keeping up to date with your pet’s vaccinations and parasite protection to mark World Animal Vaccination Day, with support from NOAH (National Office of Animal Health)

Nutrition played a central role in this year’s campaign too, with UK Pet Food’s Love Them Madly, Feed Them Wisely - an initiative to promote healthy, balanced diets for pets while making sure pet owners have the best information to help them decide what to feed.

We also teamed up with SCAS (Society for Companion Animal Studies) to talk about why pets make our lives better and why we urgently need more pet-friendly housing across the UK.

Let’s not forget the simple stuff too - low-cost ways to keep pets active and happy and regular pet ‘MOTs’ to help spot any potential health niggles early, plus lots, lots more.

So, our campaign month may be over, but our work continues.

National Pet Month is more than just 31 days of celebration - we’re here every week of the year, championing the joy of pets and the power of responsible ownership.
