We all know the incredible impact pets can have on our lives. From boosting our mood to helping us feel less alone, their unconditional love can work wonders. That’s exactly what Pets As Therapy (PAT) is all about - harnessing the power of pets to make a real difference in communities across the UK.
With a network of wonderful volunteers and their amazing animals, Pets As Therapy brings comfort and connection to people who need it most – whether that’s patients in hospital, residents in care homes, children in schools or individuals facing tough times.
Through simple acts like a wagging tail, a soft purr, or a moment of quiet companionship, PAT visits can lift spirits, ease anxiety and even build confidence, particularly for children who find it difficult to read or communicate.
Every PAT animal is carefully assessed to ensure they are calm, happy and suited to the role, making visits safe, enjoyable and meaningful for everyone involved.
We recently caught up with Pets As Therapy CEO Steven Wibberley to hear more about the incredible work they’re doing and some of the wonderful stories from their volunteers and the people they help.
